Oh, lets see where are we....????? Zane still continues to get stronger!! Hopefully by the end of May he will be back to doing some walking with his forearms crutches!! We will get an x-ray of his legs/ankles this month and see what the dr says about putting more weight on his legs.
Rick's surgery went well. The pain he had before the surgery from the herniated disk is basically gone!!!! He has 'surgery' pain, and is on a restricted recovery, such as not lifting over 10 lbs for 4 more weeks. He is to walk around, and take walks....(I did have the Dr., and nurses clarify this to him, so as to not have him doing his recovery from the couch :) He has been fairly obediant. Basically, they told him, that if he messes up this recovery time, the next surgery is not as easy or forgiving. He can actually be stronger than before when all is said and done!! He has suffered from back pain for many years, but the pain was very bad for the last couple months!! So, we rejoice that this has been a positive decision for him!
Thanks for your prayers and for checking in on us!!!
We love you all!!
Zanes Travels
Psalm 71:6-8 By Thee I have been sustained from my birth; Thou are He who took me from my mother's womb. I have become a marvel to many; For thou are my stong refuge. My mouth is filled with Thy praise, and with Thy glory all day long. (This verse was claimed for Zane on the day of his birth.) He continues to be a marvel to many, and for this we praise Him!!

SPRINGTIME BLESSINGS
Hello and Happy Spring,
Zane has been doing well, he is in school full days!!!, still sportin' his wheelchair, he is allowed to do transfers, which means standing on his feet to get in and out of something. We will head to the ortho dr., in town this month for another x-ray to check on his healing. That Dr., will forward x-rays to Salt Lake Dr., to see where we are at for continued progress report:)
Zane will graduate from 8th grade this June. Very very hard to believe he will be going to High School. Another transition for me, and yes for Zane! We are praying about Big Sky High School for him, so we will have a transition meeting there. Pray for Rick and I to know if this is where he should attend, we have heard many positive things about their Special Ed program!!
Zane's Dad, Rick will be heading into surgery this Wednesday, April 20th. He has a herniated disk in his lower back that they will be trimming off to give him some much needed pain relief. We would of course appreciate your prayers for all of us, For me? patience and understanding...for Rick, recovery, and much needed pain relief and such. At this point Rick has been on light duty at work, not lifting over 15lbs. He will be out of work 2-4 weeks for recovery, and then returning with Dr.'s orders for continued light duty. We do not know if Rick will continue his in the tire shop at all once this is over. Rick would like prayer for him to be able to keep his 'supervisor' status at work, in a different department, so as not to take a pay cut!!!.. thank you for praying that God would place Rick where He wants him.
So...yeah, prayers for the Kuhnhenns are so greatly appreciated and felt from all of you. And on a "mom" note, please pray for Erik, (in Everett, Wa) for continued protection and wisdom....Zack, for employment and God's blessings in his life, and for Zack to recognize God's hand in his life:)...Colter, for wisdom and understanding in our crazy life:), Bella, for God's continued blessings and His protection over her! ...and yes Rick and I...as we continue to trust God for all He has entrusted us with, pray for us as parents and as husband and wife.
Thank you friends and family.....

The latest at the Kuhnhenns:)
Dear Friends and family,
This week would find Zane back at school after being home for 2 1/2 months. He returned to school in his wheelchair. Zane has received permission from the Doctors to bear weight on both legs/feet!! However, he is somewhat apprehensive....as we all would be. The little bit of standing he did do at home, and a little walking, I noticed he really wants to walk the "old way!" So, I will be setting up some physical therapy for him, to assist in re-training his gate.
Please pray for continued healing of his bones, about 4 more months on that, and pray for re-training of his walking. Zane has new shoes and new AFO"S (ankle, foot orthotics). So I am sure in a few short weeks we will continue to see improvement in all areas for Zane.
We did travel to Salt lake in February as planned, and at that time his cast were removed. So, jumping ahead to the present this is where we are.
On another note, while I have your attention. Rick , Zane's dad, has had an MRI on his lower back, it has been determined that he has 3 compressed disks, one severe and the other following close behind! Today Rick will have shots of Cortison, (or the like) injected into the sight. Basically this is just to buy him some time and help relieve his intense pain!
Please pray that if it is Gods will, Rick will be able to have surgery to "fix" this. Rick has had a "bad back" for many years, due to manual labor since he was a teenager! Rick and I both feel it is time to address this, as Rick, says, "I am really not that old, and I don't want to feel old and crippled up." So, again we would covet your prayers on behalf of our family, AGAIN!!!
Rick does have an appt with a neurosurgeon on April 4th!! So we look forward to what that Dr. would recommend.
My love and hugs to all who have supported us, whether it be for years, or just this last time around:)
God Bless You,
Dianna and family

Current Update!!!!
Well as it turns out, I have not been a good blogger, or facebook updater!!! However, it does not mean that you have failed to check in on Zane's status and or his families needs!!! Thank you again. We are about 3 weeks out from Zane's surgery. He continues to do well, and watches way too much TV, but, I know it is only temporary. We did tackle doing a 550 piece puzzle, and even got Rick involved in taking on the puzzle task. It actually became quite consuming of some of my time!!
We have had a good recovery time all in all. Last Wednesday, Zane told Rick and I that is earlobe hurt and that it had a big lump in it. By Thursday he again told me that it was getting worse and really hurt. After a quick phone call to the Doc., we went and took him in that afternoon. When we got to the Dr. Zane was starting to run a fever, and I also realized he had not had much of an appetite the last day or so. With all the hardware and exposed pins in Zanes ankles and knees the Dr. felt like we should probably treat Zane for a brewing infection. Dr. said that it could be staph or strep and that if the right antibiotic was chosen the earlobe should be getting better by Friday. By Friday afternoon the swelling and soreness was decreasing!! I am proud of Zane that he has learned to take care of his body and alert Mom and Dad when something isnt' quite right. We rejoice that we have Drs., and medications to help keep us well.
Last night Zane was able to go to his friends birthday party and hang out for a couple hours. While Rick and I went to Set Free dinner and Bible Study. So we were all blessed with a couple hours of time away!!! When Rick went to pick up Zane (litterally) from the couch at the friends, he really tweeked his back!! So, needless to say, Rick is in some pain today from that.
At this point our plans are to return to Salt Lake on February 2nd, with the cast being removed on the 3rd, and return home on the 4th!!
Thank you for all the continued love and support and prayers!! We are blessed!

Zanes Recovery Process
Well Friends and family,
Today would find Zane hanging out in his room playing XBOX, or in the living room watching some movie, or cartoon....He is feeling pretty well to say the least. Some have commented on how well Zane does with each surgery and I would have to agree and give credit to God for his watch care over Zane and the rest of us!! Zane does not have full feeling in his legs which helps with the most severe, yet he feels the pain!! So, we do keep him medicated so that his body will heal.
Today he asked me for Popsicles for the 3rd time I think, so I guess I should visit the grocery store...
Rick has been off for the last 2 weeks with this whole process which is of course very nice since he can lift Zane and I cannot!! Next week, will be a new challenge for me, as Rick returns to work, Zack will be here sometimes to help, however, works most afternoon thru the evenings. We have another young lady, Laura who can come up and help too, and that will be great....but she cannot lift Zane. Our hope is Zane will be able to help with his transfers much more as he is healing!
I am reminded during these times how laid back Zane's personality is What a blessing!!! When he gets mad, (ususally at his younger brother), he has been pushed to his limit:) But, I am so thankful, that he just goes with all that it takes to recover and go thru some of these things!
Some of you have asked what all was done this go round. Zane had both his Tibia's rotated, which involves cutting thru the bone and turning it. He had hardware removed from his right knee, which he did bring home in a jar...it is purple and green titanium, (just like very expensive jewelry). The Dr, also did alot of work on Zane's left ankle bone, trimming something?, and placing some pins which will be removed in the Dr.'s office the first part of February!!
I apologize for not posting more often, just takes alot of "time" to still care for him and the rest of the family, and get my head out of the clouds! I have not taken "time" to get to the computer until today!!
Happy New Year to all who are following us on this journey, thank you for continued prayers and support to Zane and his family!!! We feel it!! Please pray for continued healing, no infections, ect., and for next week when Rick returns to work!! Rick and Zane have been quite the team with this surgery, and it has been such a blessing for me to see!

In surgery as I write
Well we would befound sitting in the waiting room if you were to look for Rick, Bella or Me. OR just called and said everything is proceding as planned! They removed hardware from his right knee, reconstructed the hardware in his left knee, and were starting on the left Tibia.....I....had to sneak away and find some caffiene for Rick and I while Bella is napping on the waiting room chair! And then decided while I was away I would update. Erik drove home to Everett yesterday and made it to his place around 10pm! Thank the Lord for traveling mercies for us and him. We hit some bad weather around Minida pass and had take it easy, but rolled into SLC around 6pm. We did get a room at the Ronald Mcd. house. Pray for Zane pain to be under control while we are in the hospital. He will stay at least 1 night, possibly 2! The nurse said if we are not comfortable leaving tomorrow to tell them. So, we would leave for home possibly Friday, but most likely Saturday!!!
Thank you again for your prayers and hugs and support.

Prayers for Zane
Well, it is turning into craziness at home, and school and the whole town right??? Please pray that Zane would not catch this horrible cold that is traveling through all the family members. We Pray that the date set for Zane's surgery is in God's will and would hate to travel all that way to Salt Lake and have Zane be sick!
I want to thank every one who has been praying for us over the years as well as currently....We feel your love and support. Thank you so much, and thank you to everyone who has donated to our financial needs for this upcoming surgery time, we thank you so much for that, and pray that God would bless you in return!!
Please pray for good roads next week when we drive, and for an "open room" at the Ronald Mcd. House. Also please add Erik, our middle son to your prayers, as he will be driving home for Christmas from Everett by himself, and then back again on Monday....!! Thanks. And last but not least...please pray for the two boys we leave behind in Missoula, Zack and Colter for them to be protected and healthy when we are gone!!
